Industrial Design in Households

Render Developments presents a two part series dedicated to the future of our amazing industry, Real Estate Development.

Trends in Real Estate Development

Attempting to narrow down trends in real estate development is no easy task! Two giant trends in full swing are:

Industrial design in housing architecture

And the

use of household automation. In other words…….

Part I – Industrial Design

Part II – Automating our Homes

Let’s get things started with Part I in the series….

Industrial Design holds a lot of promise for bringing a sense of history to any home. From a design perspective, it is a very slick way to portray the history of industrial manufacturing. Your home is literally one spark shy of the full vibe of a manufacturing plant!

It’s no surprise our clients have asked for industrial design in their recent renderings. They are being received positively.

Industrial style in housing architecture

When it comes to the acclaimed “industrial style,” there is a certain feeling you get upon entry into the home. Take a look at the image below, credited to this Home Designing website. The use of dark metals and wood goes a long way, bringing a certain openness to the area, a metallic vibrance and ruggedness, yet homely with oak stair treads and plush couches. Wood and metalworking hand-in-hand to convey a uniquely charming home life.
As Wikipedia defines it, “Industrial style or industrial chic refers to an aesthetic trend in interior design that takes clues from old factories and industrial spaces that in recent years have been converted to lofts and other living spaces. Components of industrial style include weathered wood, building systems, exposed brick, industrial lighting fixtures and concrete.”

These industrial style interior pictures look like our animation team created them as renderings! I love this style and all of its uniqueness. Let’s bring some top industrial style architects to the limelight, celebrating their achievements.

One of the greats within this sort of design is Lime Architecture. Simplicity wins with their designs. My favourite is their desire for clean lines within each room. It’s blatantly obvious in the below image, where Lime has allowed the space to breathe, letting details to impact the whole room no matter where they are located.

Here are a few of their focal points when designing industrial style homes:

  • Minimalist surface decoration
  • Clean lines
  • Flat roofs
  • Jutting edges
  • Polished surfaces

In and around the cities we live in, this style is bringing elegance and minimalism to the forefront. Just look at these images! If desired, you could also bring this approach to architecture for detached homes, where your options for space are endless.

Moscow steals the show with this build. DNK Architecture Group has turned a former furniture factory in Moscow into apartments, replacing prefabricated concrete panel cladding with hand-made bricks.

The next trend we have been reading about is that of home automation. I don’t think we truly know the options that exist out there. Take a look for yourself and get lost in the available options online. Let’s dive into our views on home automation and where we think it is going.
